Care Share:
A reproductive
health app
Project Overview:
Role: UX Researcher/Designer
Tools: FIgma
The Issues:
Many women feel uncomfortable and uninformed about issues surrounding their bodies and sexual health.
Reproductive health can often times be seen as taboo and hard to talk about, but it has never been more important to address.
The Plan:
My team and I brainstormed possible solutions on how to make women more comfortable and informed. One of our main goals was to develop an easily navigable app that provided information about women’s sexual health. Since this was a hackathon, we quickly agreed on the most relevant forms of research that would gain us insight on the problems and our audience, and got straight to work.
Survey Synthesis
Our first research method was developing a survey that was distributed to an array of different women, to gain basic information on our audience. Here is what we found:
50% were somewhat confident in the information provided provided by their providers.
Only 20% were very confident.
75% see a healthcare provider regarding their reproductive health.
60% source their information from their doctor.
Most users ask questions to friends/family or healthcare providers.
Interview Synthesis
We next conducted interviews based on our survey data. Here are some “I” statements that we gathered:
I found reproductive health information growing up was insufficient.
I feel most comfortable learning about reproductive health from my friends.
I would like to learn information beyond the basics of reproductive health.
I don’t feel like I get enough time and information from appointments with my provider.
Persona:
From our surveys and interviews, we were develop one persona. This is Angelina:
Journey Map:
Problem Statement:
Angelina needs a resource to learn about reproductive health in order to feel confident and comfortable making educated choices about her body.
How Might We:
Create a space where users can research reproductive health issues and chat with others with similar concerns.
Provide users a platform for comprehensive reproductive health information.
Help users feel that they can easily access trusted and professional information.
Promote healthy and informed decision making.
Equip users with information and tools to make appointments with their providers the most efficient and productive.
